We’re proud to have worked with, and provided accommodation for the clients of, some of the best coaches, instructors and guides in Europe, people like Neil McNabb and Neil McNair, whose coaching and guiding operations are the best in the business – both well worth checking out (check out McNair Snowsports website for some great early season courses in Tignes this season) We obviously work with the best schools locally, like the excellent Alliance Snowboard school in Tignes, and we’re really excited to be working with one of the most exciting new Snowboard coaching setups SuperRad on a couple of collaborative camps / coaching weeks this season:

What is SuperRad? Well, SuperRad is a new coaching experience, created by snowboarders who love snowboarding, designed for you to have as much fun as possible, and get super rad on your snowboard!
They like to build from giving you strong technical understanding of riding your snowboard, while finding your own creativity and style so that you can shred all over the mountains, whatever the situation.
They realize the differences in every snowboarder, therefore, SuperRad is not about just learning skills, they think it’s about taking these skills to where you want to use them, which could be on the piste, in the snowpark or into the backcountry.
Why is SuperRad different? SuperRad coaching involves not only developing a solid riding style, but helps you learn how to use it all over the mountain, for maximum radness! Your learning is going to be on overdrive as you explore new ideas, learn from your feedback and get pushed out of and back into your comfort zone, all at your own pace.
SuperRad coaches pride themselves on their intuition and ability to tune in to and accommodate the learning of the individual. Everyone is different, everyone has their own style, and we love that! Whatever you like to ride, and whatever style of riding, they’ve got that covered! Getting coached by SuperRad will change the way you see snowboarding, and we promise, it will be a ton of fun!
Founders and head coaches James Sweet (based in Tignes) and Lewis Sonvico (based in Morzine) are highly qualified, holding Snowboard ISIA instructor & Snowboard ISTD instructor, Freestyle development coach level 2 qualifications, have full French Carte Professional and also first aid, child protection and CRB checked – follow the link above for more info on these two SuperRad snowboard instructors!
Dragon Lodge x SuperRad Winter Warm Up – with Tignes glacier open since 29th September, and snow already on the on the ground in the village, it’s looking good for early season. Dragon Lodge opens 17th November while the full Espace Killy area, including Tignes & Val D’Isere, opens 1st December so with the early snow and Tignes record of being one of the most snow sure resorts in Europe the ‘Winter Warmer’ week should be great!

“Tignes is one of the best early season resorts to come and get your first fix of the winter. With SuperRad teaming up with the Dragon Lodge, we would like to provide you with the opportunity to come and tune up your riding for the upcoming winter, and enjoy the Dragon Lodge experience as they show you Tignes as only they can. Become a local for a week!”
“SuperRad coaching is carefully shaped to get you as rad as possible on your snowboard, whilst developing and retaining your own personal style and flare. We like to work not just on using correct movements but also being in the right frame of mind to get the most out of your riding. The Dragon Lodge is all about having tons of fun on and off the slopes. Staffed by a team of lifetime snowboarders, they pride themselves on showing people the ‘real’ Tignes with amazing food, a real snowboarder’s home to stay in for the week and quite often finishing the day with a pint of Guinness in hand! Overall, we plan to have a real cool week, making new friends, getting shred ready for the rest of the winter and just generally good times!”
“There are 12 spaces on this week so come and ride with super shred hippy and instructor Lewis, and his local partner in radness, James. The SuperRad teamwork makes dreams work. Get super rad and be shred happy.”

“This isn’t just a training course, but a full tilt, 100% snowboarding mega experience. The week is all about development and inspiration. With SuperRad taking care of the coaching, you know you are going to speed up your learning and push yourself to new heights. At the same time we will be dropping into the X-games village to see the world’s best doing what they do, maybe even getting to meet some of them too! Throughout this week we will develop your riding and your tactical mindset with the idea that you can then move onto any mountain, snowpark or freestyle contest feeling super shred ready! We will be taking over 2 of their apartments linked in with the chalet so the kids can hang out and meet cool people, all part of the UK and international shred scene, make new friends and really get inspired by people who live for snowboarding. All this but with enough separation for kids to be kids, get to bed early and be ready for the next day of adventure.”

With the winter season fast approaching we thought it was about time to get on with this blogging business, and we’ll be posting regularly throughout the winter with info on what’s happening in resort, special offers from us and our partners in Tignes, news form our sponsors and anything else we think might be interesting…
Tignes glacier has been open for a couple of weeks now, and hearing it’s been snowing again today from our friends Steve, and James ‘SuperRad’ Sweet, who are already in town, while the London Ski & Snowboard show organisers just posted an early season ‘where to go’ guide online which had this to say about Tignes: “Want to go skiing in the Alps right now? Get thee to Tignes – seven lifts have been open on its glacier since 29 September with more to follow, and conditions permitting, the rest of the resort will open on 1 December. Tignes’ glacier offers 20km of pistes, and several schools and academies run early season training courses on it, including Snoworks, Inspired to Ski, The Development Centre and McNab Snowboarding.”
Speaking of SuperRad, who if you don’t know are one of the most exciting new coaching setups in Europe – they’ll be based in, and running courses from Morzine and Tignes this season, and we’ll have some very exciting news about a couple of innovative SuperRad vs. Dragon Lodge collaborative weeks we’re planning for this winter – details to come next week…while main man James Sweet will be keeping us updated on snow conditions on the glacier, and whats happening in Tignes this Autumn so check out Facebook and Twitter feeds for that…
We’re actually opening up on November 17th as we’re hosting a 4 week BASI level 1 instructors course with the excellent Sno-Limit crew – the course is almost sold out, but they’ve just announce the last few places have been reduced by £500 each so if you fancy getting your Ski or Snowboard instructors training qualifications started give them a shout tout-suite!
SPECIAL OFFER NEWS:
Our excellent equipment hire partners Tignes Spirit recently announced they’ve kept their prices the same as last season (in fact, they’ve held them the same for the last 4 seasons now!) so not only can you hire excellent ski and snowboard equipment (they stock only high quality gear, including the great boards we ride from Endeavor Snowboards) but you get them for a great price – especially if you book through us via the exclusive booking form on our equipment hire page where you get 30% off the ‘public / in resort’ price! Combine their low cost, the fact that they deliver and fit equipment for you at the lodge, and the increasingly high costs for ski/snowboard carriage with the airlines these days, and renting your gear for the week from Tignes Spirit is definitely worth trying!
We offer a number of Transfer options during the season, from scheduled bus services to private mini-bus transfers, from the best operators in the Alps – but have also just secured a great deal and arranged preferential rates for Dragon Lodge guests with award winning car rental specialists Rhinocarhire.com for Geneva Airport car hire, get your exclusive 5% discount for Dragon Lodge guests only by following this link. They also have an interesting blog where you can also read about the pro’s and con’s of renting from either Swiss side or French side here.
That’s all for now, we’ll be back with more info and special offers, including some reduced prices for the last remaining early season / Christmas places at the lodge, and the lowdown of the Dragon Lodge / SuperRad colab, next week. In the meantime check us out on Facebook and Twitter for daily Dragon Lodge news and more.
